Brilliant batch of BMWs bustles into Oulton Park

Fans of Munich’s finest have a superb selection of BMWs to choose from this Sunday at our Oulton Park Gold Cup sale – with the added attraction that the majority of them are being offered at No Reserve. The ‘No Reserve’ list includes an exceptional rare 1984 BMW 323i Alpina, which is believed to be one of the only – possibly the only – example of a factory four-door Alpina saloon of this type remaining on UK roads today. In addition to the cars featured here, we will also have a 2008 300D Convertible offered at No Reserve and a 2004 Z4 with an estimate of £6,000-£8,000, details of which will appear on our online catalogue shortly.

This is a quite exceptional opportunity to acquire a rare and cherished one-owner example of one of the most desirable and best-handling 1980s sports cars. ‘A597 FAL’ has been greatly cherished and tremendously well cared-for by its sole – sadly, now deceased – owner for its entire 40-year existence. Bought new from the Alpina’s authorised UK dealer, Sytner’s of Nottingham, this is believed to be one of the only – possibly the only – example of the factory four-door Alpina saloon of its type left on UK roads. 

Presented in smart red paintwork, ‘A597 FAL’ boasts optional extras such as a full cream leather interior, central locking, electric sunroof, green tinted glass, rear headrests and the original Blaupunkt Boston radio cassette player with electric aerial. This car has always been kept garaged from new and is being offered for sale by the estate of its late owner and comes complete with a vast history file which includes a full service history and MOTs supporting the displayed 62,470 mileage, plus the original sales invoice from Sytner’s (which shows that the purchaser part-exchanged a two-year-old Porsche 944 for this car!), original book packs, spare key and even a spare, unused set of Alpina stickers from the Alpina factory. The car’s paintwork, bodywork, interior, electrics, 2316cc engine and manual transmission are all described by the person acting on behalf of the late owner’s estate as ‘excellent’, and ‘A597 FAL’ is offered at No Reserve, which further adds to its appeal.
