OUTSTANDING VENUES
A Hampson sale is an event. Our auctions take place at some of the UK’s most picturesque venues, providing a memorable backdrop for showcasing your vehicle to potential buyers and attracting large crowds of enthusiast buyers from across the UK and overseas.
BOLESWORTH CASTLE
The magnificent Bolesworth Castle near Tattenhall, Cheshire is a stunning location for any event. The Grade II listed country house dates back to the 1750s and has been in the same family ownership since 1856. Sitting amongst glorious grounds in a 6,500-acre estate, Bolewsorth is home to a wide variety of enormously popular events, from international equestrian competitions to family-friendly festivals and even a hot air balloon event.
In the latter part of 2023, Bolesworth’s superb, 15,000 square feet event structure, located adjacent to the castle’s moat-side equestrian arena and overlooking the castle and the Cheshire countryside, became the magnificent new ‘home’ of Hampson’s auctions – and an instant hit with our attendees. From the splendid setting to the excellent facilities – not least the equestrian arena, which lends itself so well to acting as a display arena for the sale cars – Bolesworth is a fabulous and memorable location for our auctions.
OULTON PARK GOLD CUP
The Oulton Park Gold Cup is one of the UK’s premier historic motorsport meetings, bringing two days of high-octane classic racing and a fabulous retro mood to the Cheshire circuit each July. The event has gone from strength to strength in recent years, reimagining itself as a celebration of the track’s golden era. Oulton Park opened in 1953 and, during the 1950s, 60s and early 70s, the International Gold Cup was a much-coveted trophy, presented to the winner of a non-Championship Formula One race held there each year. Stars such as Jackie Stewart, Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham, John Surtees, Jacky Ickx and Denny Hulme were among the winners of the Gold Cup. And it is those years that the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting now celebrates, with races for single-seaters, GTs, sports cars and Touring Cars.
The weekend now also attracts a massive display of classic cars from car clubs across not just the North West but the entire UK, and has a host of other retro fun. It forms an ideal and entertaining setting for a Hampson sale, with the added benefit that attendees can also enjoy all the sights and sounds of the track action and off-track attractions.
