SELLING THROUGH MARKETPLACE
We strive to make selling your performance car or motorbike, supercar, premium classic or cherished registration through Hampson Marketplace as hassle-free as possible. You can track the sale progress online, there’s no seller’s commission to pay, no need to open your home to strangers viewing the car or bike you’re selling, and each sale makes a difference, as Marketplace supports a very worthwhile children’s charity, The Joshua Tree.
It all starts with a valuation…
To start the Marketplace selling process, complete our online form, telling us about the car, bike or registration number you’re looking to sell, and our friendly team will contact you with a free, no obligation valuation.
Once you decide to proceed, you’ll be asked to complete an entry form and pay the catalogue fee.
One fee, multiple benefits
The Marketplace catalogue fee covers:
- Entry into the sale
- Valeting and professional photographing of your vehicle
- Professionally-written catalogue description
- Displaying your vehicle on the online sale catalogue for the ten-day sale period
- Marketing activities via newsletters, social media, our website, and listings on Car & Classic, Glenmarch, BidSpotter, Saleroom and iBidder.
- Storage of your vehicle at our secure facility at Hampson’s headquarters in Cheshire
The entry form… tell us everything!
An entry form doesn’t only contain the basic details of your vehicle and consign it to the sale. This is where we ask you to provide as much information as possible on your vehicle, its condition and history and any information which might make it stand out to potential buyers, such as a full service history and/or comprehensive history file, recent restoration, rare or unusual specification, warranted low mileage, famous former owner etc. Our professional writers will then craft the catalogue description, so the more you give them to work with, the better!
Showcasing your vehicle from our secure site
In the lead-up to the sale, you’ll need to bring your car or bike to our secure storage facility at our headquarters in Cheshire. To further reduce the hassle for you, you have the option of using our collection service. At the storage facility, our valeting team will ensure that the vehicle looks its best before our professional photographer swings into action, capturing all the essential details needed for the online catalogue.
Ten-day sales, 24/7 bidding, complete transparency
Marketplace sales take place exclusively online, with the entries promoted to our global audience of buyers via our website, e-newsletters, social media channels and press activity and listed on our channels with Car & Classic, Glenmarch, BidSpotter, Saleroom and iBidder.
Each sale runs for ten days, and bidders can view the online catalogue and place their bids 24 hours a day throughout that period. Potential buyers who want to see more of a car or bike can book an appointment to view that lot in person at our Cheshire HQ, or request a Condition Report – including a detailed video – to be sent to them via email or WhatsApp.
The site refreshes frequently, showing the latest highest bids, so you can keep track on the activity on the lot you’re selling.
When the (virtual) hammer falls
When the ten-day sale period is up, if your lot has sold, you receive the sale proceeds, with no seller’s fee deduction. You only pay your entry fee and any optional expenses you might have incurred (such as transportation).
Making a difference
Our 7% Buyer’s Premium, online catalogue and 24/7 bidding makes Marketplace an attractive place for potential buyers to shop. We’re proud to announce that we split that premium, with Hampson’s donating 1% of the hammer price of each lot to The Joshua Tree charity, supporting families affected by childhood cancers.
By submitting an Entry Form, you are agreeing for your vehicle to be sold at one of our auctions, subject to our terms and conditions for sale.
