BUYING THROUGH MARKETPLACE

Buying at a Marketplace auction is very straightforward and transparent.

How do Marketplace sales work?

The lots and their bids are displayed on the Marketplace web page. Each sale runs for ten days, and bids can be placed online 24/7 throughout that time. The site regularly refreshes, so that the latest bids can be seen. If you are the highest bidder at the end of the sale for a lot (assuming any reserves have been met) you will be the winner and will have agreed to purchase the lot for the winning bid amount (also called the Hammer Price).

How do I register TO BID IN THE AUCTION?

You can register to bid via this website. Simply click the button below to login to your account or to create a new account.

Alternatively to bid on one of our specialist partner platforms just click the logo below to visit & register to bid.

Can I view a vehicle in person?

During the sale period, all lots will be stored at Hampson’s headquarters in Cheshire. A comprehensive selection of images for each lot will be viewable as part of the online catalogue description, but you can also make an appointment to come to our HQ and view the vehicle in person. Alternatively, you can request your own Condition Report, including a detailed video, which can be sent you via email or WhatsApp.

How do I place a bid?

Once registered, go to Marketplace to see the latest sale and place your bid on the lot or lots you’re interested in.

What if I’m outbid?

As the sale progresses through the week, if you’re outbid you’ll be notified automatically, so will have the chance to increase your bid.

Can I set my maximum bid in advance?

Yes – when you place your bid you can also indicate the highest amount you’re prepared to go to. The system will automatically bid on your half, increasing your bids as necessary as opposing bids come in, but it won’t bid beyond the limit you have set.

What is the Buyer’s Premium?

Our 7% Buyer’s Premium makes Marketplace an attractive place to ‘shop’. We’re proud to announce that we split that premium, with Hampson’s donating 1% of the hammer price of each lot to The Joshua Tree charity, supporting families affected by childhood cancers.

Motor Cars: 7% of the Hammer Price subject to a minimum fee of £600 + VAT
Motorcycles/Scooters: 7% of the Hammer Price subject to a minimum fee of £300 + VAT
Registration Numbers: 7% of the Hammer Price subject to a minimum fee of £200 + VAT

What’s the process if I make the winning bid?

If you make the winning bid, you’ll be emailed an invoice when the sale ends, and all payments will be required by no later than the following day. You will then be able to collect the vehicle from our headquarters in Cheshire and we will provide details of our secure indoors storage facility once your winning bid is confirmed.

By signing up to our marketplace and/or bidding on any lot, you agree to our terms and conditions for bidding/buying. If you are the winning bidder, a binding contract will be made between the Seller and you for the Lot on the fall of the hammer on the auction.
