Entries are rolling in for our annual flagship sale of classic, performance and supercars at the Oulton Park Gold Cup on Sunday 27 July. The Gold Cup is the Cheshire circuit’s headline event, a three-day nostalgia fest featuring an incredible array of historic race machinery, with the Hampson auction an enormously popular element of the weekend. With the huge crowds attending the Gold Cup, this is a fabulous opportunity for vendors to showcase their vehicles to an enthusiast audience.
Early entries include this rare 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB ‘Vetroresina’. One of just 154 right-hand-drive examples built, it has been cherished by its current owner for the past 31 years. This prancing horse is now champing at the bit to find a new stable and carries an estimate of £80,000-£100,000.

Another rarity is the 1984 BMW E28 Hartge H5SP, pictured at the top of the page. The H5SP conversion of this highly collectable and powerful performance saloon was carried out when the car was new in 1984 by UK Hartge concessionaires Griffin Motorsport. This included a 268bhp M30 engine upgrade, enhanced suspension and interior, plus the distinctive Hartge bodykit and decals. The sale estimate for this very desirable car is £40,000-£50,000.
American car fans can choose between the wonderfully sleek styling of the low-slung 1949 Cadillac Fastback Coupe (£30,000-£35,000) and the actual 1965 Series III Cadillac Coupe Deville driven by Jon Hamm’s ‘Don Draper’ character in the later series of the hugely popular multiple Emmy award winning TV series ‘Mad Men’ (£25,000-£35,000). Or perhaps the very pretty 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible might catch their eye. Recently imported from California, this fine example of the original pony car is offered at no reserve.

Other early entries in what promises to be a diverse sale with wide appeal to enthusiasts include a classic ‘hot hatch’ – a 1994 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9. With just 45,000 miles covered from new, and benefitting from sought-after factory extras including air conditioning and power steering, the ‘pug’ is offered at £15,000-£17,000. Another Gallic icon heading to Oulton Park is the 1972 Citroen DS Special. Charming in pale yellow and white livery, it is offered at no reserve. The ‘no reservers’ also include a very collectable ‘fast Ford’. The 1987 Capri Brooklands is powered by the potent 2.8-litre Cologne V6 engine and features the metallic Brooklands green paintwork, red and white pinstripes and ‘280’ decals which make this special edition so eye-catching.
