Early entries for Hampson’s 4 May sale of classic, performance and supercars at Bolesworth Castle include an absolutely outstanding trio of cars from a private collection. Each is exceptional in its own way, and each is likely to appeal to a different category of enthusiast.
The 1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series V Vantage is truly an astounding car. One of just 136 Aston Martin DB4 coupes made with the uprated Vantage specification, it has been the subject of a no-expense-spared restoration, which included a £40,000 engine rebuild by Aston Martin specialists RS Williams. The car’s comprehensive history file includes diligently kept notebooks from the first owner – who owned the car for 23 years – logging the mileage covered and all work undertaken between 1962 and 1985. This splendid motor car carries an estimate of £400,000-£500,000.
The monumental 2024 Rolls-Royce Phantom was optioned with over £60,000 worth of extras, including an £8,000 bespoke audio system, gunmetal livery, ‘immersive’ seats and fully-polished disc wheels, which brought its original purchase price in February last year up to a whisper under £500,000. This immaculate and extraordinarily highly specified example of the pinnacle of the exalted Rolls-Royce range has covered just 1,800 miles since it left the Goodwood factory, and has an estimate of £350,000-£400,000.
Finally, the 1966 E-type Jaguar Series One on offer is unique. ‘The One of One’ evokes the look and feel of the iconic lightweight racing E-types in an unparalleled, optimised for the road package. Based on a 1966 Series I E-type fixed head coupe, it underwent the most diligent and far-reaching restoration and upgrading during 2020 at the hands of long- established British Jaguar specialist Woodham Mortimer, who took the opportunity to create their vision of E-type perfection in what they call the ‘4.7 Sport GT’. Reported to deliver close to 400 bhp and 400 Ib-ft of torque and featuring a long list of accompanying upgrades to give this sublime Jaguar real-word performance and usability, it has a sale estimate of £200,000-£300,000.
Hampson’s Managing Director Zach Hamilton said: “To have just one of these cars in our sale would be a superb achievement. To be able to offer all three of these magnificent machines is unrivalled and I can’t wait to see them go under the Hampson hammer on 4 May. Following the success of our March Bolesworth sale, which saw some 80-% of lots find new homes, Hampson’s is going from strength to strength in 2025.”
